The
second generation..
In 1991, management of Little Beaver Creek
Tree Farm became the responsibility of the next generation, Anne and
Richard. During the first few years Anne managed the tree farm long
distance from Oklahoma. Several weeks each year were set aside to work
on small projects on the tree farm. We decided that the trees needed us
more than the dogs and cats, thus the sale of the clinic. In 1994,
Richard and Anne built a woodland home on the original property
purchased by her folks. We feel that being able to live on our property
creates a good management environment. Increasing time spent in Oregon
has allowed us to volunteer our time at the Magness Tree Farm, the
forestry booth at the State Fair as well as helping with tours. We have
also attended a Project Learning Tree Workshop, Oregon State Extension
University Basic Forestry shortcourse and have completed the OSU Master
Woodland Managers program.
